Song Zhanqian   Born in 1942.7. Professor, Tutor of PhD stuudent, Director of Department of Chemistry of Chemical Utilization of Gum Oleoresin.  
       Graduated in the Dept. of Chemistry of High Polymer, University of Science and Technology of China in 1964.7.   Further studied in UC-Berkeley and North Carolina State

University in US as visiting scholar in 1983.2-1985.2. and worked in USDA Forest Products Laboratory as senior visiting scholar in 1996.4-10. He has been working in Institute of Chemical Processing of Forest Products, Chinese Academy of Forestry from 1964 to now as associate professor and professor, tutor of Ms and PhD students. Conferred a title “Nation grade excellent young and middle age expert” in 1986. Elected as member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1999. Now he is member of Forestry Engineering Group, Academic Degree Committee of the State Council; national grade inquire advisor of science and technology; member of forestry group, Commission of Prize of Science and Technology Progress of Nation; member of Instruction Committee of Subject of Forest Chemical Industry, State Forestry Administration; member of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China; permanent member of Chinese Society of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Forest Products; member of Academic Commission, Academical Degree Commission and Senior Title of Technical Post, Chinese Academy of Forestry; Vice-editor of “Chemistry and Industry of Forest Products”.
Main achievement:
He has been engaged in research work in chemical processing and engineering development of forest products, especial in chemical utilization and fundamental study for the past more than 30 years. 
1. Finished more than 30 projects from nation, department and provinces, and awarded 18 Prizes of Science and Technology Progress of Nation, Ministry and Province, including in two 2nd Prizes and one 3rd Prize of Science and Technology Progress of Nation. Such as: “ Preparation of Polymerized Rosin”; “Study on suspension bed disproportionation of rosin and recovery of waste Pd/C catalyst”; “Study on continuous high pressure hydrogenation of rosin”; “Preparation and application of serial esters of hydrogenated rosin”; “Preparation and utilization of lighter color serial tackifier resin from rosin and turpentine”; “Chemical characteristics of gum oleoresins and chemotaxonomy of pine species” etc.
